From Student to Principal

This summer Metacomet School had an opening for principal. Who would succeed in taking over the reins? That post belongs to no other than former student Desi Nesmith. Principal Nesmith attended Metacomet during his 1st and 2nd grades. Nesmith was the former principal at America’s Choice at SAND School in Hartford. In 2010 Nesmith was honored as Promising Young Professional by the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education.

Metacomet was closed last year and underwent renovation as part of the districtwide expansion plan. Desi Nesmith is favorable to the additions while noting that much of the school’s aura still remains. “What I like about it is that you can still see the old building,” said Nesmith. To get acquainted or reacquainted with the Bloomfield neighborhood the best way is the live in the community. One resource to utilize are the Windsor Movers. After a year of construction the Metacomet School hall’s will be full of footsteps and hope.
